Former cabinet minister Stuart Robert will resign from federal politics in the coming weeks, admitting his time in parliament 'has not been the smoothest ride'.
Mr Robert will end a 16-year career in federal politics, after being elected to the seat of Fadden, Queensland in 2007.
In a recent statement, Mr Robert confirmed he will resign in the coming weeks in a move to support his family. "It is now time for my family to have a husband, a father and a son to stand by them.""I am the first to acknowledge my time in parliament has not been the smoothest ride. Politics is tough. People throw the kitchen sink at you," he added."But I do fear division has well and truly entrenched itself in the current Parliament.
