The Labour Party is launching its first party conference in power in 14 years in Liverpool today. There are speeches expected from Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
Angela Rayner, the deputy prime minister, begins her speech by declaring how 11 months ago she said she hoped to never again open conference in opposition.'It's an absolute great honour of my life to stand here today as your deputy prime minister,' she says, to great applause from those in the room.'It's an honour to open the first conference of a Labour government.

The Tories failed Britain, and they tried to cover it up.'The minister stresses that the Conservatives have left Labour 'facing tough choices', adding 'even tougher ones' are faced by families across the UK.
