Reform leader Nigel Farage told our political correspondent Ali Fortescue that he has bought a house in his Clacton constituency and dismissed claims that he has not spent enough time locally.
Nigel Farage's run for parliament was a last minute affair.Initially ruling himself out of going for a Westminster seat, the career Eurosceptic decided during the campaign that he would run - and ended up romping home the winner in Clacton. However, since his victory, there have been accusations that he has not been spending enough time locally.Sky News political correspondent Ali Fortescue asked him today if that was a fair criticism.'No,' he said.
He went on to ask how much time Sir Keir Starmer spends in his constituency of Holborn and St Pancras, and how much time Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey spends in his of Kingston and Surbiton.'I am representing Clacton, yes, but I'm also leading a national political party which is rapidly rising in the polls, which we have to build from the ground up.'Today is Friday... very often MPs are in their constituencies on Friday.
