Mr Sunak says this is partly about"seizing the opportunities of new technologies like AI" or virtual wards that use technology to allow patients to recover at home. Speaking ahead of the 75th anniversary of the NHS next week, the PM says: "For every minute of every day of every one of those 75 years, the NHS has been kept going by the millions of people that have worked for it."I feel a powerful sense of responsibility to make sure that their legacy endures and to make sure that the NHS is there for our children and grandchildren, just as it was there for us.

"The NHS has a huge case to answer in terms of trying to create a positive work environment where everyone feels valued. The government wants to work towards a plan over the next five, 10 and 15 years where it is less dependent on overseas-trained health professionals. Almost a quarter of NHS staff will be trained by apprenticeship by 2031/32 and for medical degree apprenticeships, 2,000 to be trained by 2031/32.
Over the next 15 years of England is projected to increase by 4.2% but the number of people aged over 85 will grow by 55% and these people will have complex health needs which need care and at the moment the NHS is struggling to cope.
