The son of missing Gold Coast mother Wendy Sleeman appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today. Read what happened:
A pool of blood on the bathroom floor and drag marks were discovered by police in the home of a missing Gold Coast mother, a court has heard.
She had made a call to police over the robbery, but within half an hour she was missing, police said. He was on bail for unrelated offences when he was arrested and charged in relation to Sleeman’s disappearance, the court heard.Murdok’s lawyer Rodney Keyte said the case against his client was weak despite the seriousness of the charges, which included domestic violence-related counts of kidnapping, assault, stalking and attempted arson.
Officers found a pool of blood on the bathroom floor and drag marks along the floor, indicating the victim was bleeding heavily and unconscious, prosecutors said. “After she left the police station in relation to making a statement for the breach of domestic violence order, other police had contacted her to offer support, [they] just went through a few things about the person of interest,” he said.
Smith said there was evidence Murdok had allegedly been in the area near his mother’s home recently and said Murdok was a “very smart individual”. The evidence had so far provided police with little detail. He said the blue Honda Jazz police had been looking for this week was still missing, but now officers believed the car had no registration plates.
