The first Poolman trailer is out now, previewing the upcoming comedy-mystery starring Chris Pine in his directorial debut.
The film tells the story of a Los Angeles pool cleaner, when he’s asked to go undercover to help uncover a big mystery. The film will also mark Pine’s directorial debut, with Pine also having co-written the movie alongside Ian Gotler.
Along with Pine, Poolman stars Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise, Stephen Tobolowsky, Clancy Brown, John Ortiz, Ray Wise, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Danny DeVito.“Getting to make Poolman was a dream,” said Pine in a statement. “The artists with whom I collaborated, both in front of and behind the camera, were even dreamier, and shooting in my hometown was the dreamiest.
“Poolman tells the story of Darren Barrenman , a native Los Angeleno who spends his days looking after the pool of the Tahitian Tiki apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “When he is tasked by a femme fatale to uncover the truth behind a shady business deal, Darren enlists the help of his friends to take on a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer.
