Pop star Dua Lipa has been granted Albanian citizenship by the country's president, Bajram Begaj. Read the full story:
"My mum is half Bosnian, so her mum was in Sarajevo at the time, but they moved to London as the situation started getting really difficult in ex-Yugoslavia.
"Something that people forget all the time is, people don't really want to leave their country unless they really have to. It's really out of necessity."The Don't Start Now singer then came back to the UK to pursue her music career and lived with a family friend in London until she was 16. Together with her father, Lipa co-founded the Sunny Hill Foundation in 2016 to raise funds with annual concerts held in Kosovo to help people experiencing financial difficulties.
She will wrap up her world tour in Tirana this week, with a show marking the 110th anniversary of Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire.
