100 balls, most runs wins, plus live music... what's not to like
Quick-fire cricket match concept The Hundred is all set to return to the Emirates Old Trafford in August. The events combine the fast pace matches, where each team faces a hundred balls, plus entertainment including live bands.
Hometown team the Manchester Originals will be playing four matches - both the men’s and the women’s teams - against the likes of visitors London Spirit, Birmingham Phoenix, Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave. It’s the third year that the popular cricket tournament has been hosted at Old Trafford, where teams aim to score as many runs as they can off 100 balls, with the games lasting less than three hours.Live entertainment this year will be coming from Manchester indie-pop band Lottery Winners, homegrown R&B star Akemi Fox, Arabic/English fusion pop artist Nxdia, and spoken word and indie hip-hop artist Antony Szmierek.
The events will also be hosted by DJ Roesh and presenter and broadcaster Harpz Kaur. DJ Rosesh said: "This year’s games are going to be another incredible fusion of sport and music. We're going to create something special, something that will resonate with each and every person in the crowd. “So get ready to dance, sing along, and have the time of your lives as we celebrate the unity of sports and music. It's going to be an unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to see all of you there!"Saturday 5 August – Manchester Originals vs London Spirit - with special guest Akemi Fox Sunday 20 August – Manchester Originals vs Northern Superchargers – with special guest Nxdia Tickets are on sale now from £15 for adults, £5 for under 16s and free for children under 6.
