Owners Whitbread confirmed today the pub restaurant will close permanently on Friday, July 5
The Crooked Lum Beefeater, adjoining the Premier Inn Glasgow East Kilbride Central, is to be replaced by additional hotel rooms, a small kitchen and eating area for patrons of the hotel.
Whitbread reaffirmed its position as the UK’s number one hospitality business with record full year results showing a 13 per cent increase in sales and a 36 per cent increase in adjusted profit before tax to £561m. The news is yet another blow for the local hospitality industry after the closure of the Westwood Bar and Whitehills Farm.
"Whitbread should hang their heads in shame at the treatment of their long running staff. Here's to our last pints in the Lum and all the wonderful staff who have been so great over the years. Thank you all."
