The team behind the hugely successful Thornwood Bar in Glasgow's West End are expanding their empire with a new pub, Bearsden Athletic Club, planned for the former 55 Bearsden Cross location.
The team behind a hugely popular pub in Glasgow 's west end are set to open a second venue in the Bearsden area. Marc Ferrier, owner of The Thornwood on Dumbarton Road, and his team have set their sights on the former 55 Bearsden Cross pub, with plans to transform it into the area's latest exciting venture, Bearsden Athletic Club.
After teasing fans about their potential new location, Marc and his team took to Instagram to reveal the news, posting 'Let's go Bearsden', and adding: “Keys keys keys. Very excited, proud, nervously stressed out my tiny little mind. “55BC in that Bearsden will soon be Bearsden Athletic Club. People said get up here, smash some margaritas, do the Thornwood vibe. I said ok let me ask Sarah if we can smash the savings account and here we are.'Set to open at 28 Drymen Road later this year, the news has been met with excitement from local drinkers. Having taken over and transformed the Thornwood Bar in 2019, the team have grown a cult following thanks to their epic social media posts, brilliant service, and updated food and drink offering. Fans, including customers, brewers, and fellow businesses, have been flocking to the comments section to congratulate the team. One delighted person responded: 'Well this is exciting!' While another added: 'Looking forward to the opening party.' There's no confirmed opening date yet, but we'll be sure to let you know as soon as more information becomes available.
