The 'Iññez & Gunn” is a playful spoof of Spanish-branded beer - and you can grab it this weekend only at Innis & Gunn’s Glasgow and Edinburgh taprooms.
Calling Glasgow beer lovers. This weekend - and this weekend only - you can grab limited edition bottles of Innis & Gunn lager. And if you're someone who loves to relax abroad and enjoy a pint in the sun, it's safe to say it will be up your street.
The cheeky release of Iññez & Gunn follows a recent survey commissioned by Innis & Gunn which revealed that 38% of Brits think Spain produces the best beer. To launch the new beer, Innis & Gunn brought a touch of Spanish flair to Princes Street this week, when crowds gathered for a midday fiesta to get one of 500 bottles of the “cerveza” while flamenco dancers from TuFlamenco put on a show for lunchtime passers-by.
Innis & Gunn founder and master brewer Dougal Sharp, who earned his pocket money in his early teens by washing casks and rolling barrels at Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh, and went on to win Champion Beer of Britain, said: “We’ve been inspired by our dear friends at Madri. We saw how easy it was to convince British drinkers that a beer with a Spanish-sounding name and a fancy label is from somewhere exotic.
With branding clearly influencing what people choose to drink, Innis and Gunn are keen to show that shoppers and pub-goers don't need to opt for expensive continental lagers and can instead opt for Scottish premium lager which not only taste great, but is made here at home.
