The boozer shut its doors earlier this year
A popular Nottingham pub will reopen in the new year after closing following the death of its landlady - thought to have been the oldest in the city. The New Castle in Sneinton closed its doors following the passing of Judith Birkett in May.
The 88-year-old had bought and renovated the semi-derelict pub in Sneinton Road nearly a decade ago. But in a recent announcement on social media, the New Castle shared the "exciting news" that it would be welcoming punters back in January. "After a long closure we are excited to get into the premises and meet all of our lovely locals new or old," reads the Facebook post. "Your lovely Landlord Aiden is excited to kick start things and begin serving a wide range of draught and real ales along with bringing back the kitchen with breakfasts and Sunday lunches with a larger variety of pub grub including the likes of authentic curry nights and your traditional pub classics.
"There will also be the likes of live Sky Sports, new pool table, new dart board, classic slot machines plus much more to keep all entertained during their visit." The post added: "We currently do not have a confirmed day of when we will be reopening however watch this space as it will be announced on the premises and across our social channels."
