COLUMBUS, Ind. — Stormy weather took over the 10TV viewing area Saturday evening, and it won't be the only round of storms we have to contend with over the next few days.
Severe weather Saturday spawned numerous reports of hail around the region and even tornado warnings for eastern portions of the state. While we managed to avoid any major severe weather, we are not going to be done with the storms over the coming days. return by Sunday evening. Much like on Saturday, hail will be the main risk factor, but heavy rains, wind, and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
We'll see a few showers and rumbles of thunder overnight and into Monday Morning, as well as during the evening commute. The strongest chance for damaging storms arrives on Tuesday. Right now the main concern for Tuesday will be wind and hail but we will be watching the tornado risk with this storm very closely as this system develops over the coming days.
Sometimes an approaching tornado will sound like the roar of a train or airplane. If you see or hear a tornado, take cover immediately. Seek shelter inside, preferably below ground level. Do not waste time opening windows; tornado-force winds will"open" the windows well before the pressure difference can cause any structural damage. Above all, protect your head and lie flat.Get away from windows, doors and outside walls. Go to the basement.
