Gareth Jenkins, former Fujitsu engineer, is facing the Post Office inquiry. He helped design the flawed Horizon system that led to hundreds of branch bosses being wrongly prosecuted. One of those was Seema Misra, who has refused to accept his apology. Watch the inquiry live below.
The inquiry has returned from its lunch break and Jason Beer KC is continuing his questioning of Gareth Jenkins. 'Too little too late': Wrongly convicted sub-postmistress refuses to accept Jenkins' apologyhas spoken to wrongly convicted sub-postmistress Seema Misra.
As a reminder, Mr Jenkins' expert testimony in court was relied on in cases against sub-postmasters who were wrongfully convicted. "This makes what has happened even more tragic. I can only apologise, again, to Mrs Misra and her family for what happened to her." Throughout them, he says he was not the chief architect for Horizon - a claim that the inquiry has previously heard.
Central to those was the trial of Seema Misra, convicted while pregnant of theft and false accounting, having argued that the Horizon system was the source of tens of thousands of pounds that could not be accounted for. Mr Jenkins has also claimed that, despite being put forward as an expert in court, he had limited knowledge of the overall system, and denied being what the inquiry counsel called"an all-seeing eye".
