Despite technically falling under Leeds City Council's jurisdiction, residents on Gain Lane are stuck with the Bradford postcode, leading to frustration and a perceived financial disadvantage compared to their neighbors across the street. Campaigners claim they are penalized for having a BD3 prefix, even though they believe they should be considered part of the more affluent Leeds suburb of Pudsey. This difference in postcode results in significantly higher house prices and lower insurance costs for those with the LS28 postcode. Homeowners like Lynda Berry complain about the disparity in council tax, car insurance, and home insurance, lamenting the unfair treatment they face due to their postcode.Russell Robinson, a resident of over six decades, highlights the ongoing issue, stating that attempts to change the postcode have been met with no success. He even recounts how his father's house, technically under Leeds jurisdiction but with a Bradford postcode, sold for less than similar properties in Pudsey with an LS28 address. Gurvinder Singh, who has lived on Gain Lane since 1989, emphasizes the substantial difference in property values, arguing that his house would fetch £100,000 more if it had an LS28 postcode.
