Stellenbosch – Cape Town | South Africa. This role is focused on designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality, business-critical dashboards and reports. The primary aim is to transform complex data, sourced from both legacy systems and newly implemented core systems, into clear, reliable, and actionable insights. The individual in this position will be accountable for fostering strong partnerships with various stakeholders.
This includes business stakeholders, system owners, and data engineering teams. The core responsibilities encompass defining reporting requirements, ensuring adherence to data quality and governance standards, and delivering performant, automated Power BI solutions. These solutions are critical for supporting operational decision-making, ensuring business continuity during system transitions, and facilitating the adoption of self-service business intelligence throughout the organization. The role is multifaceted, requiring a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong communication abilities to effectively bridge the gap between raw data and actionable business intelligence.\The key responsibilities also involve active engagement with business stakeholders. This interaction necessitates a thorough understanding of their reporting needs and key performance indicators (KPIs). The role holder will be expected to collaborate with both legacy system owners and the core systems replacement project team to gather requirements. These gathered requirements are then translated into clear, actionable reports and visually compelling representations. Proactive identification of gaps in data availability or quality across both legacy and new systems is a crucial aspect of the role. Collaboration with data engineering teams to shape reporting datasets and address identified shortfalls is also essential. A major deliverable will be the creation of Power BI reports and dashboards. These reports and dashboards must be carefully aligned with defined business and reporting requirements, ensuring seamless continuity between legacy reporting solutions and the functionalities of new systems. Furthermore, the role involves the design and maintenance of Power BI dataflows and refresh schedules. These must be optimized to ensure automated, up-to-date reporting with minimal manual intervention. Monitoring and resolving performance issues, by optimizing DAX calculations and data models to improve report responsiveness, is also a critical task.
