Catherine has qualified for the tournament in South Africa later this year
Bargeddie powerlifter Catherine Gordon has earned a place at the World Masters Championships in South Africa later this year – but needs backing.
In Luxembourg, Catherine won silver overall, silver squat medal, gold bench medal and gold deadlift medal, a total of 460kg . Catherine said: “It was an amazing experience to go there in the first place, but to represent GB at that level was even better. “To come away with medals and records makes all the training and sacrifice worth it to do so well, and that level also.
“I added another 2.5kg, and that doesn’t sound like a lot, but on the bench it can be the difference between a good and bad lift.Catherine’s flight to Texas was sponsored by Granite Charlie, a Microsoft Dynamics 365 consultancy and she will need similar help this time around.
