But under a controversial new abortion law she could be forced to give birth to the child - because its heartbeat can be detected.
The so-called "heartbeat bill" prohibits expectant mums from terminating a pregnancy after six weeks or when a fetal heartbeat can be heard. Enshrined in Ohio law last month, the bill's authors say it is designed to "protect the most vulnerable" - that being unborn babies.'NO EXEMPTIONS' reports: "Ohio’s new 'heartbeat bill' means that the 11-year-old girl will likely be forced to carry the child to birth, regardless of the fact that she was raped."says: "The law carves out an exception if a patient’s life is in danger, but not for a pregnancy resulting from rape or incest."Detectives were already investigating the 26-year-old on suspicion of sexually assaulting the girl.
