The government has clamped down on a security loophole that allowed some Premier League footballers special arrangements at airports. The new rules mean footballers will now have to go through the same security checks as any other passenger, potentially causing delays and fan attention.

According to a source, Premier League chief Richard Masters lobbying the Transport Secretary to raise concerns about the changes had 'raised eyebrows' within Government.
