With Everton deducted another two points for a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, former Toffee's striker Kevin Campbell revealed what the players might be thinking as the Merseyside club battle relegation.
Premier League clubs are expected to agree to new spending rules that will include points deductions, talkSPORT understands.
The 20 clubs will be asked to vote on a proposal to adopt a UEFA-style system whereby they can spend a maximum of 85 per cent of their turnover on transfer fees and player wages. If voted through it is likely the new regulations will run alongside the current Profit and Sustainability Rules for next season before replacing them in the season after.
talkSPORT also understands clubs could be let off with a fine for a breach of up to 115 per cent of their income in the first instance, with points deductions coming into play for any further breaches. The vote is expected to take place during the summer so that any new rules can be in place for the start of next season.
Before Everton's second deduction, fellow relegation-battlers Nottingham Forest were docked four points for the three-year period ending in 2022/23. The club were permitted losses of up to £61m due to them spending two of the three campaigns in the Championship. They overspent by £34.5m.Tuchel rages as Bayern denied penalty in moment you may have missed amid Saka controversyBukayo Saka left furious at referee as Arsenal denied late penalty against Bayern Munich
