Staff Reports Wicksburg won all five of its games in winning the Addyson Martin Memorial Tournament in Geneva, winning the title Saturday with an 8-0 championship game win over Ariton.
In the win over Brantley, Cole struck out 12 and pitched a six-inning, one-hit shutout with no walks. Ganz had two hits, including a run-scoring single. Kelley added an RBI single and Wicksburg’s third run scored on an error. Dixon struck out seven and allowed only four hits over five innings. All three runs were unearned. Adams had a two-run single and Reese Peters had a run-scoring double, while the other two Ariton runs scored on an error and a passed ball.
Bragg belted a two-run homer to lead the Ariton offense. Peters had an RBI sac bunt and Adams had an RBI off a bases-loaded walk. In the loss to Ariton, Haynes had two hits, including a two-run homer. Ansley Watson also had two hits. Carraway had an RBI ground out. Free struck out 10 and allowed only two hits, but walked six and gave up four runs.
Geneva goes 1-2: Geneva finished 1-2 at its tournament, beating Charles Henderson 10-3 and losing to Ariton 5-3 in pool play and falling to Ariton 8-0 in bracket play. In the win over Pike Road, Anna Parker Little struck out nine over five innings and had a double on offense, while Alex Grimes supplied the offense with a three-run homer.CHHS goes 0-3: Charles Henderson went winless in three tournament games, falling to Geneva 10-3 and to G.W. Long 9-2 in pool games and to Headland 3-1 in bracket play.Versus Long, Molly Garrett had a solo homer and Janazia Cantlow had an RBI ground out.
In the win over Florala, Bella Lashley was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs batted in and Camdyn Norris and Brynne Kelley both had two hits and two RBI. Lauren Norris had a hit with two RBI and Mary Beth Weeks had a hit and a run batted in. In the pool play win over Eufaula, Shayleigh Whitman struck out six and gave only one hit and one unearned run over four innings. She was also 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Ainyah Stokes went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Madyson McLain had two hits. Bre Wilkerson, Leah Grace Snellgrove and Bailey Newsome all added a hit and RBI.
