Inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ngayong Lunes na hindi gagamit ang Pilipinas ng water cannon sa pagtatanggol sa teritoryo ng bansa sa West Philippine Sea .
"No. We are... what we are doing is defending our sovereign rights and our sovereignty in the WPS, and we have no intention of attacking anyone with water cannons or any other such offensive,'' ayon sa pangulo patungkol sa mga mungkahi na gumamit din ng water cannon ang Pilipinas. Nitong nakaraang linggo, binomba ng tubig ng CCG ang mga barko ng Pilipinas malapit sa Scarborough Shoal, o Bajo de Masinloc, na magdadala ng tulong at krudo sa mga mangingisdang Pinoy sa lugar.
Ipinatawag naman ng Department of Foreign Affairs ang Chinese Embassy to Manila na si Deputy Chief of Mission Zhou Zhiyong, kaugnay sa naturang insidente.
