Prescot Cables secured first promotion in 15 years as record crowd cheers them to success

For the first time since 2008/09, Prescot Cables will play in the Pitching In Northern Premier League after securing promotion on Saturday.

Within the fixture, neither team were able to break the deadlock inside of 90 minutes, sending the match to extra time. Then, just 10 minutes in, the Cables finally took the lead courtesy of a goal from Kyle Samber. After a cagey opening half-an-hour, Cables were given a serious advantage in the 37th minute after the Purps’ Max Allen was sent off for a reckless challenge.

Then, the final whistle blew and with a 2-0 victory, Prescot Cables were finally promoted back up for the first time in over 15 years. Founded just six years after Everton FC and eight years before Liverpool FC, the history and importance of the club cannot be downplayed. He said: "When you speak to the older generations that have been around the club or involved in the club, they tell you stories of things they've seen or witnessed, and I think it's important that we try to emulate that or give the younger generation of fans something so when they're older they can look back with the same pride.
