Mr. Biden said he had been briefed about the shooting that left the former president bloodied and two people — including the shooter — dead. “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well,” Mr Biden said in a statement. “I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”
“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety,” Mr. Biden said. “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America.”The horrific event played out amid a heated presidential race that has divided the nation. It was Mr. Trump’s final campaign rally before he was set to receive the Republican Party’s nomination next week at the GOP national convention.Mr.
Mr. Trump emerged with some blood on his face. He pumped his fist before he was whisked away by Secret Service agents.
