Hours before the much-awaited inauguration happening on June 30 at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. shared on social media what he and his family will be wearing on the day.
A spotlight on Filipino traditional clothing and local textile, the pieces are crafted by Filipino designers. Bongbong is set to wear two custom barong for the day. First is a contemporary-looking barong inspired by the rayadillo, blue-and-white striped cotton or flannel material used for soldier’s uniforms during the Spanish invasion. Completing the look will be a pair of shoes by Sapatero Manila.
Echoing the president-elect’s look at the inauguration is Atty. Liza Araneta-Marcos’ terno. The incoming First Lady will be wearing a Lesley Mobo piece imbued with embroideries of the Sampaguita, the country’s National Flower. The dress will be paired with pumps by Lila Almario of Greggs Frame.
