United States President Joe Biden could be forced to cancel his upcoming trip to Australia if he is unable to strike a deal in negotiations on raising the debt ceiling.
The President is due to leave Washington on May 17 for a G7 leader meeting in Japan before flying to Sydney to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Quad Leaders’ Summit.
Mr Biden says he is optimistic an agreement can be reached, but insists he will stay in the US capital if a solution is not found.
