The cause for the hold up comes down to the calendar but politics are getting in the way of an easy fix.The Democratic National Convention where Biden will be announced as the candidate doesn’t happen until Aug. 19-22 in Chicago. While both the Ohio Senate and House work on bills to extend the deadline, there is a battle being played with a bill inserting wording about campaign contributions coming from outside of the U.S.
Last Thursday Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine demanded both elected bodies return to Columbus to hammer out the final wording. “Ohio is running out of time to get Joe Biden, the sitting President of the United States, on the ballot this fall. Failing to do so is simply unacceptable. This is ridiculous. This is absurd situation,” DeWine said.
