Big plans down the Guild Hall
Preston Guild Hall will open for two events this week for the first time since a long running legal dispute was settled.
Described as the North West’s leading apprenticeship and careers expo, the event will see employers including Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council, UCLan, North West Ambulance Service, BAE Systems, Coca Cola, Matalan, and Leyland Trucks speaking with potential applicants. All of those companies in attendance will have vacancies available, with further education providers will also be on hand to give advice and information.
Confirming the end of the legal dispute last week councillor Matthew Brown, leader of Preston City Council said: "Preston's iconic Guild Hall can now look forward to a bright future once more. The much-loved Guild Hall is vital to the economy of the city and we know that our residents will be glad to hear the good news. The council will be exploring all options in order to give the building a new lease of life and a viable future.
Asked about the upcoming events, a council spokesperson said that full risk and fire assessments have been carried out to ensure that they can go ahead safely and that staff have been hired in to ensure the smooth running of the events.
