Catarina and Brendan saw Society1 as a chance to address a problem for her parents, who were struggling to manage high tenant turnover in the volatile hospitality industry. The building's rich history and storytelling nature resonated with them both. However, in 2017, coworking was still largely confined to London. They took a leap of faith, believing in the concept despite limited exposure in the UK. The first year was dedicated to educating people about the unique offerings of Society1.The period before the Covid-19 pandemic saw Society1 gain significant traction. The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, forcing them to adapt to the new normal of remote work. While it initially seemed like a setback, the Society1 community remained connected through online platforms like Slack and Zoom. This resilience helped them weather the storm. The pandemic's impact on the workplace landscape led to the rise of hybrid and remote working models, becoming commonplace. Society1, though, didn't experience a sudden surge in popularity post-pandemic. It took time for people to adjust and embrace these new ways of working.
