A busy road in Preston was closed for several hours overnight after a car crashed into a telegraph pole. Emergency services responded to the incident on D’Urton Lane in the Fulwood area shortly before midnight on Thursday (January 2), finding a Volkswagen Scirocco had collided with the pole. The road was closed in both directions, and while the car sustained damage, police reported no injuries. Although the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, police acknowledged the road conditions were 'extremely icy'. The road reopened this morning, but drivers are still advised to exercise caution due to ongoing icy conditions.

In a statement on social media at 12.47am this morning , Preston Police said: "We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on D'urton Lane in Preston from the junction with Fernyhalgh Lane to Haighton Green Lane. The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time.
