Sam Greenwood spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, scoring five times in 39 appearances for Leeds United's Championship rivals
Ryan Lowe is confident Sam Greenwood will play a "big part" for Preston North End next season after finally capturing the forward on a season-long loan from Leeds United . The Lilywhites boss has revealed the Lancashire club tried to sign Greenwood last summer but the 22-year-old ended up joining Middlesbrough on loan.
"I actually spent a bit of time with Sam last summer when he was training abroad and I saw what he was capable of. We tried to sort something then but we couldn’t quite get it done and he ended up going to Middlesbrough. We feel he has a big part to play and we’re really pleased to have him with us for the season.”Greenwood, who has made 35 appearances for United, is North End's first summer signing. "I’m over the moon," said Greenwood.
Greenwood will now travel with the Preston squad to Spain for a warm-weather training as they continue their preparations ahead of the 2024/25 season. “Excitement really to meet the boys," he said. "To get out there, train with them, and get a good connection with the lads and get ready for the season starting.
“I think it’s really important that I can get a good connection with the boys for when the season comes and be ready to go.”
