I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
Well, it’s been planted at the #1 spot on Apple TV+ since it debuted, and the new Jake Gyllenhaal-starring crime drama, Presumed Innocent ,
This relies on his character’s fate, as the show is not done airing its season yet, but because they are turning this into an quasi-anthology with a new case next time around. The idea appears to be thiscontinue with the same characters, possibly including Gyllenhaal depending on what happens in the finale. But given that Apple says this is the most-watched drama in platform history, they may want Gyllenhaal to stick around and anchor it.
If you really want to know what happens, this story is indeed based on a book, and was already adapted into a movie starring Harrison Ford in 1990. There is a second book, The Burden of Proof, which is a partial sequel and is likely going to be what’s adapted, though Apple does not make that explicit in its announcement of season 2.In addition to being widely watched, Presumed Innocent has reviewed well. It has a 76% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an even higher 80% from viewers.
Severence is at #10 in the wake of the announcement that it will be returning on January 17, 2025, three years after it last aired, so yes, people probably are going to need a refresher. It is still six months away, however, one of the longest seasonal breaks I can remember seeing in the entire streaming era, outside of anthologies like True Detective.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to Presumed Innocent season 2 and seeing what happens to Rusty at the end of this story. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations. We want our readers to share their views and exchange ideas and facts in a safe space.
