Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong says all countries need to exercise agency to avert war and maintain peace which is a “critical” to Australian diplomacy.
“All countries need to exercise … agency to avert war and maintain peace and advocating this objective is the most critical aspect of Australia’s diplomacy,” Ms Wong said during the national Press Club of Australia media conference.
“As a result of the previous governments failure to ensure long-term resourcing for our diplomatic capability, Australia’s diplomatic footprint has actually shrunk.”
