The previous Coalition government tried to “duck-shove” statistics which would have shown the current government how much electricity prices would rise, says Labor MP Meryl Swanson.

“I understand how critical it is for us to have two things: Firstly enough electricity and secondly electricity that people and business – whether small, medium, or large – can afford,” she told Sky News Australia.

“We know before the last election Angus did his best to sort of duck-shove it away so we wouldn’t see how much they were actually going to rise. “We also know that we’ve got this RepuTex modelling where we’re seeing by 2025 we should see a reduction, we are making incredible investments into things like the grid and renewables.”
