‘We urge retailers to behave responsibly throughout the coronavirus outbreak'
The competition watchdog has threatened legal action and fines against traders and retailers who try to take advantage of the coronavirus outbreak by selling protective products at inflated prices.
Companies have been fined millions for breaking consumer laws in the past. If businesses ignore warnings from the CMA, they could be taken to court where they face being fined huge sums.Chief Executive Andrea Coscelli said: ‘We urge retailers to behave responsibly throughout the coronavirus outbreak and not to make misleading claims or charge vastly inflated prices.
