A primary school in Moston, Manchester , was placed on lockdown on Wednesday afternoon, January 22, following reports of a man with a knife attempting to attack a parent. Armed police responded to the scene at Lily Lane Primary School on Kenyon Lane around 3 pm. Eyewitness accounts and images circulating online show police vehicles arriving with flashing lights, with a large number of parents gathered outside the locked school gates.
It is understood that the suspect had engaged in an altercation with a parent before brandishing a knife. A 20-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted assault and remains in custody. Parents described the harrowing experience of waiting outside the locked gates, desperately calling for their children as the situation unfolded. Lily Lane Primary School issued a statement expressing gratitude to the police for their swift response and acknowledging the understanding of parents who prioritized the safety of their children. The school reassured parents in an email that pupils had been addressed and informed they were safe and not to worry.
