'There's no need for him to be here' SkyKatieSpencer reports on Prince Harry's attendance at his court case against Associated Newspapers Ltd today 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube
The statement released by actress Elizabeth Hurley goes into detail about the alleged hacking of he phone by private investigator Gavin Burrows for the Mail newspapers.
"Hugh and I, and many others, were victims of this and I thought about the time I had asked BT to sweep my lines and they had confirmed everything was fine and I had thought my phone was safe and secure to talk. Prince Harry has said the Royal Family withheld information from him about phone hacking because they didn't want him to bring a claim as it would"open a can of worms".
Speaking about how he found out other people within or associated with the Royal Family had brought phone hacking claims against the press, he says:"It is not an exaggeration to say that the bubble burst in terms of what I knew in 2020 when I moved out of the United Kingdom." The lawyer representing Prince Harry and his co-claimants argues that material relied on for part of their case - which Associated Newspapers Ltd wants struck out - is not covered by orders imposed during the Leveson Inquiry into media standards.
