The Profumo affair rocked British society after married Tory Secretary of State for War John Profumo had a sexual relationship with a teenage showgirl who was sleeping with a Russian agent.
Prince Philip has been named in a pile of FBI files involving his role in the Profumo sex affair scandal involving Christine Keeler.
There had long been speculation about the Duke's relationship with the affair. Newly released US Department of Justice files show that the FBI was alerted to Prince Philip being personally "involved" with Christine Keeler and her friend, Mandy Rice-Davies. As reported in the Mirror, the memo, sent to the US embassy in London on June 20, 1963, reads: "Corbally also stated there was a rumour Prince Philip may have been involved with these two girls."
