The co-patrons of the expedition, which aims to retrace the footsteps of British explorer Bertram Thomas , were Prince William and Oman 's Crown Prince Theyazin bin Haitham. The team plans to traverse one of the most inhospitable regions in a 30-day journey on foot, by camel, and with the use of 4x4 vehicles.
The expedition will emphasize Oman's biodiversity and heritage while also highlighting environmental challenges. Though William does not plan to join the expedition in January, he expressed his intent to 'try and make something happen' regarding a future visit
