Prince William revealed on a podcast that one of his early Christmas gifts for Kate Middleton was a pair of binoculars, a present she has never let him forget. While the Royal Family is known for exchanging humorous Christmas gifts, William's choice was less than successful.
Buying gifts for people is a special skill that some of us certainly lack and it seems Prince William is one of those unlucky few, in his own words. The Royal Family have previously revealed that they have a tradition of buying gag Christmas presents such as a 'grow your own girlfriend kit' and a leather toilet seat.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been happily married for 13 years and have three children together. They famously met at St Andrew's University in 2001 and soon grew close. In 2020, William appeared on a special episode of Peter Crouch's podcast in support of the Heads Up campaign. After the former England player confessed to buying his wife Abbey Clancy a raincoat three years running, Prince William said: "I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once - she's never let me forget that."
While Prince William's gift buying skills were seemingly questionable, Kate appears to be far better at knowing what to give as a present. During her first Christmas spent with the Royal Family at Sandringham House in Norfolk, she was apparently worried about what to gift the late Queen.
