Anne was seen leaving her helicopter after it landed at Thornton Memorial Park in Fife

Princess Anne has surprised locals after she was spotted landing in a Scots public park as part of the royals visit to a local charity.

The royal was transferred to a waiting car before making the short journey to the International Fire and Rescue Association which is headquartered in the town. Set up in 2002, the charity was set up to assist Firefighters and Emergency Services worldwide. According to the group's website: "IFRA’s mission statement is to promote the preservation and protection of life from fire and other disasters, especially in countries that are so affected by war, civil unrest or natural disaster that they are unable to contend with the emergency utilising their own resources or require assistance on humanitarian grounds."

The charity has supported multiple humanitarian disasters and war zones including Ukraine which it donated an ambulance to in April. Anne's visit marks the 20th anniversary of the group's work in helping services around the world with training and equipment. Princess Anne was also spotted visiting the Riding for the Disabled Association in Blairgowrie earlier in the day.READ NEXT: Top news stories today
