Princess Beatrice's daughter, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, is celebrating her third birthday - but just how did her name go against a sweet tradition Sarah, Duchess of York began?
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi 's young daughter, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi , is celebrating her third birthday. The late Queen's great-granddaughter and 10th in line to the throne was born in 2021 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and was named Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi by her proud parents.
And, much like her other cousins, Princess Beatrice chose to honour her late grandmother by including 'Elizabeth' in Sienna's name. The desire for an Italian link stems from Edoardo's own family and his aristocratic links to Italian nobility as he is a Count. And while Sienna is a beautiful name, some thought the couple would choose to follow a family trend that Sarah, Duchess of York started and Princess Eugenie carried on with her two sons, August and Ernest.
Beatrice was the name of the Queen’s youngest daughter with Prince Albert and all three of Princess Eugenie’s names follow the same trend.
