Princess Diana once made a heartbreaking confession to Paula Yates during a chance encounter, according to a friend of the TV star

Paula’s love life was in particular tabloid fodder - as she was first married to The Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof before embarking on a love affair with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, who took his own life in Sydney in 1997. “And Princess Diana said to Paula: ‘I love it when you're on the front page of the papers, because it means I got the day off’."
It explores the mystery surrounding Paula’s life and untimely death by focusing on four “extraordinarily compelling” and previously unseen interviews recorded in 1998 and 1999. For much of her life, Paula believed her father was Jess Yates - her mother’s husband and the host of ITV religious show Stars on Sunday. However a DNA test taken in 1997 revealed this was not the case, and her biological father was actually game show host Hughie Green.
Paula met Bob Geldof in 1976 and they married 10 years later. They had three children together - Fifi, Peaches and Pixie - before separating in 1995.
