Princess Diana told Ingrid Seward that she had 'wished' that the public, as well as Princes William and Harry, could read her and King Charles's love letters to each other.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Diana wanted to prove their love through the letters they wrote to each other. "Diana told me very shortly before she died that she wished people could see the love letters that she had from Charles," Seward said during a lunch event for It wasn't just about the public perception, however. She also wanted their sons, Princes William and Harry, to know that a "great love" existed between them early on in their relationship.
"She really wanted people to know that she loved Charles and he loved her," Seward added. "And I always remembered that. And she wanted the boys to know that. There was a period of great love between them."Seward explained that Diana revealed the news to her just weeks before she died in the tragic 1997 car crash in Paris.
“I do hope you weren’t too tired after all the wedding activities, and that you were able to see a lot from where your seats were,” she wrote, per. “The honeymoon was a tremendous success, and we had a glorious time catching up on our lost energy and sleep. I just wanted you both to know how deeply touched I am by your thoughtfulness and, again, a million thanks. Endless love and affection—Diana.
