Anthony Cross was serving time at HMP Leeds when he turned violent against a prison officer
A HMP Leeds prisoner made his inmate cry and headbutted an officer because he didn't want to share a cell.
"The officer told him to collect his belongings and he went to do so when the defendant went back. He continued to make threats to the officer. She told him to go back to his cell. At first he moved away then squared up to her and headbutted her, striking her in the nose and mouth area.The prison officer suffered severe pain to her eyes and headaches and bruising began to appear. The court heard she also suffered a fractured nose and is awaiting to undergo surgery to repair it.
Mitigating, Michael Walsh said: "This is a defendant currently serving a reasonably lengthy sentence and his release date is due to be 8th November next year - a little over 18 months from now. The defendant in the cold light of day accepts his actions were completely wrong.
