A court has heard a woman was ejected from an Alice Springs social club in the hours before her partner murdered her, even though she had expressed concerns about him to staff, and he was being publicly threatening towards her.
He did however accept the club could – and regularly did – organise curtesy busses or other transport.
"So it was your job to protect the property, not the people," Phillip Boulten SC, who is representing the family of Ms Rubuntja, said. "You're not a mind-reader, but you had a very aggressive man who had made threats towards your security staff … and you had coming, asking the security guard to get him removed," Dr Dwyer said."It's a fair assumption in those circumstances that given she hadn't voluntarily left, she was scared."
"So if an Aboriginal man was threatening and causing trouble towards an Aboriginal woman, it was the procedure of the club to demand that the woman go with him," Mr Boulten said.
