Police have arrested four people at a pro-Palestine protest that blocked a major intersection and the gates of the Melbourne Cup.

At least two protestors who refused to move were pepper sprayed and dragged across the road by police, while others were carried away by their arms and legs.

Victoria Police arrested four protestors, including a female protestor with a flare gun and megaphone who refused to climb down from the the roof of a white van despite police instruction.of the Deputy Prime Minister, Richard Marles in Geelong.Police arrested a female protestor who refused to get down from the top a white van. The protestors, who congregated at Epsom Rd, Ascot Vale Rd and Racecourse Rd from 11am, caused traffic disruptions at an important intersection.

Police dispersed the protestors around 1.15pm and traffic flow has since improved through the intersection. The four protestors who were arrested have been taken to Melbourne West Police Station to be processed for resisting and hindering police.
