A 28-year-old man from Providence, Rhode Island, was arrested for robbing a woman at knifepoint on New Year's Day.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a home in Providence, Rhode Island on New Year's Day. Joseph Hansen allegedly approached a woman cleaning her car outside her house, asking if she had seen his dog. He then pulled out a knife and chased her on her property, demanding her purse. Hansen also attempted to steal the woman's electric car but was unsuccessful.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect drop a hat and jacket near various locations, which police later recovered. Hansen was arrested at Gano Street Park and arraigned on charges of first-degree robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and attempted larceny. He was held without bail. Prosecutors revealed that Hansen followed the woman onto her property and brandished a small paring knife, keeping it within a foot of her torso. During the struggle, the woman fell to the ground
