A Provo man witnessed a forest fire spark and take off in the Wasatch Mountains over the weekend, and he described his efforts to put out the flames.
Luke Kevesdy said that while he and his girlfriend were close to where the Little Deer Creek fire started in the mountains, he wasn’t too concerned initially about their safety — until the wind switched directions, and they realized it was time to go.
He said his girlfriend, who took the photos, hung back while he took a fire extinguisher to the flames. "It's like what Smokey the Bear always says. 'Only you can prevent a forest fire', which means, it's a simple thing," Kevesdy said.
