Dame Prue Leith will be taking a break from the Celebrity Bake Off special in 2024 to pursue other passions. Although she will still appear in the regular and US versions of the show, Prue cited the demanding filming schedule, which runs from April to August with no breaks, as the reason for her decision. Her longtime friend, Caroline Waldegrave OBE, a former Managing Director and co-owner of Leiths School of Food and Wine, will step in as a replacement judge for the upcoming season.
Channel 4 has announced a star-studded line-up for the Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, set to return in spring 2025. Joining the familiar faces of Alison Hammond, Noel Fielding, and Paul Hollywood, the special series will see a new batch of celebrities competing for the coveted Star Baker title. The competition will feature four celebrities per episode, tackling the signature, technical, and showstopper challenges. This year's contestants include a diverse range of personalities from the world of entertainment, such as Amelia Dimoldenberg, Kate Garraway, Meera Syal, Phil Wang, Jim Howick, Sarah Beeny, Adam Buxton, Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, Ellie Goldstein, Gloria Hunniford OBE, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roman Kemp, Jamali Maddix, Maxine Peake, Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Self Esteem, Tommy Tiernan, and Sophie Willan. The news of Prue's departure comes amidst concerns about Noel Fielding's future on the show after his Apple TV+ show, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, was cancelled mid-production due to his health. However, his representatives confirmed to Metro that he would be returning to the series as planned.
